At its annual meeting in San Jose, on Friday, July 12, 2019, the USAWKF Board of Directors tasked the Nominations and Elections Committee with overseeing the election for Board of Directors. The term of the current Board expires at the end of the year.
The Committee is charged under Article 5 of the Federation's Bylaws to "solicit from among eligible members a slate of qualified nominees for the Board of Directors. The Committee shall verify the qualifications of all nominees to serve in office as members of the Board of Directors."
The Committee is now seeking nominations to the Board.
Eligibility and Qualifications of candidates for nominations:
Candidates must be at least 25 years of age and have been members in good standing for at least the two consecutive years immediately prior to their nominations.
All nominees for candidacy for election to the Board of Directors shall have a working understanding of and familiarity with the Federation, its operations, its members and its mission to promote the wushu sport and tradition and shall have a history of positive service to USAWKF and its community.
A history of positive service to USAWKF may include, but not necessarily be limited to, serving as an organizer of USAWKF events; serving as a judge or official at the junior and/or adult U.S. Wushu Team Trials or the USAWKF Nationals; serving as a U.S. team leader, coach, judge or official representative to IWUF or PAWF; serving on USAWKF committees or having made significant contributions to USAWKF and to wushu in general.
Nominees shall have demonstrated collegiality in working with the USAWKF's Board, its committees, its judges and officials and its members in the best interests of the Federation.
Nominees may be deemed unqualified if they have acted in any way to undermine the mission of USAWKF or acted in any way contrary to the USAWKF Codes of Ethics for Officials and Members.
Submission of nominations to the Board:
Candidates shall submit a recent resume or detailed statement describing their credentials for candidacy. In addition, they must submit a letter expressing their interest in running for election and stating that they understand the duties and responsibilities of office, that if elected they promise to fulfill those duties and responsibilities and that they will put the interests of the Federation and its members above any personal concerns. Those who nominate another person for candidacy to the Board of Directors shall submit a recent resume or detailed statement outlining the nominee's credentials for candidacy along with a formal letter of nomination. In addition, the person being nominated must submit a formal letter stating that they are aware that they are being nominated, that they accept the nomination, that they understand the duties and responsibilities of office, that if elected they promise to fulfill those duties and responsibilities and that they will put the interests of the Federation and its members above any personal concerns. Using the address below, nomination packets must be submitted by email as PDF files and be received not later than 5:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, August 29, 2019. Nomination packets received after that time will not be considered.
